Technical Service Bulletin (2024-14)
Subject:
The legacy Vectorized repositories at https://hub.docker.com/r/vectorized and https://docker.redpanda.com/r/vectorized will be removed as of January 31st, 2025.
Summary:
The legacy vectorized organization on Dockerhub was deprecated and replaced with the redpandadata organization over two years ago. In that time, Redpanda has been dual-publishing container updates to both organizations, from major release 22.1 and onwards. The repositories at https://hub.docker.com/r/vectorized and https://docker.redpanda.com/r/vectorized will be removed on January 31st 2025, and updates are now only published to repositories in the redpandadata organization.
Severity:
Low
Redpanda Products Affected:
- Redpanda Enterprise and Redpanda Community
- Redpanda Console
Impact:
Container installation frameworks such as Docker and Kubernetes that point to repositories in either legacy URL will no longer function, and you will experience container image download errors as there are no longer any repositories hosted in the vectorized organization.
Additionally, versions older than 22.1.1 do not exist in redpandadata repository.
Action required:
Configurations such as Dockerfiles, Helm chart repository tags, and so on will need to be updated.
If using https://hub.docker.com/r/vectorized, update the repository to https://hub.docker.com/r/redpandadata
If using https://docker.redpanda.com/r/vectorized, update the repository url to https://docker.redpanda.com/r/redpandadata.
If you are on a version older than 22.1.1 please reach out to our Support team to discuss how to migrate data over to a cluster on a supported version.
