Summary:
Previously in this TSB we suggested that customers upgrade directly to Redpanda version 24.3.8 when upgrading from a version < 24.3.1. We then advised to halt upgrades to 24.3.x as there are multiple state machines that, post upgrade, can cause increased resource usage. We have completed patches and this has been resolved in version 24.3.11
Severity:
High
Redpanda Products Affected:
- Redpanda Self-Managed - Enterprise
- Redpanda Self-Managed - Community
Release Affected:
Redpanda versions 24.3.1 - 24.3.10
Identification:
Any cluster being upgraded from any Redpanda version less than 24.3.1 to versions 24.3.1 through 24.3.10.
Please note that upgrades cannot skip major version releases, as detailed here, any upgrade to 24.3.x will need to be from a cluster on 24.2.x
Impact:
High resource utilization can impact many processes in your Redpanda cluster, and each cluster could react differently based on the load and usage.
Action required:
Customers with self-managed clusters on Redpanda versions less than 24.3.1 should pause upgrades to any 24.3.x version until a new patch is released and communicated. This issue has been patched in 24.3.11 and is generally available.
